Welcome to Waters of life My name is Marty Farfan and I was born and raised in San Francisco, Ca., I have
been a creative person all my life and in 1976, I started working with clay using the potters wheel. After 30+ wonderful
years making pottery, I find myself leaving the potters wheel alone and working as a sculptor.
I’ve always
thought of myself as an artist and as a craftsman but I felt that the work I was doing wasn't really what I had envisioned
for myself. I tried to find my true self in new work but it wasn't until I found Philippe Faraut that I was able to sculpt
the human form with any skill. People are so varied and unique that I am never without a body or face to sculpt. I have
so much art to create I need more than one lifetime to express it all, and the need to express myself is all but over
powering. So my artistic journey begins as all journeys do, at the beginning, learning and growing. I think my art speaks for itself but let me know what you think. The
art work is always changing and I find I’m always working, so hang in there; new pieces are on the way. Check out the "Work
in Progress" page it shows my latest work. I want to thank my wife, Lisa for all her
love and support and for always being there when I needed her. All of my family members, both immediate
and extended. I also want to thank the artists that have touched and inspired me, most of all my long time friend, Jon Exworthy,
who showed me through art classes in his garage just how "cool" art can be, Philippe Faraut for teaching me
how to "see" and to sculpt the human face, and Arlin Robins who inspired me with her beautiful sculpture and kind
words of encouragement, but mostly to my mom Ladde, who not only is responsible for my existence but is also a wonderful
artist herself, working with oil and watercolor paints; she has always been my greatest source of inspiration and
support. Thanks again for your support, please e-mail
your comments to me with the link below or call at 415-941-1562.
